I have selected the following six writing samples because they reflect a wide range of communication styles for various purposes across different genres. The provisional patent I contributed to at E25Bio is not available for public release, so it has been omitted. Likewise, written works from my co-ops and internships are not included on this page.
Sample 1 - Service Request Proposal
The first three samples are part of a larger project on wearable airbags. Sample 1, below, is addressed directly the CEO of a leading wearable airbag helmet company. This service proposal emphasizes the importance of further developing wearable airbags and urges the company to take specific actions toward a tangible goal. This is an example of technical persuasive writing in memorandum format.
Sample 2 - Firsthand Research
Preparing for the service proposal request presented above involved in-depth firsthand and secondhand research. The following document describes a research plan for interviewing a key person at the company of interest. This piece demonstrates my thought process when communicating in a professional setting and shows how I prepare for interviews.
Sample 3 - Secondhand Research
The following annotated bibliography documents my research around wearable safety devices for micromobility applications. This bibliography was made in the early stages of the project, and the sources cover a wide range of subjects. This sample showcases my experience with formal research, analytical writing, and critical judgement.
Sample 4 - Capstone Final Report
The following report documents 6 months of engineering efforts on a capstone project, and covers everything from initial ideation to a final prototype and future steps. This piece demonstrates my contributions to a formal report in a team setting.
Sample 5 - Experimental Report
The following report documents a study on the effects of pre-infusion time on espresso brewing. There is very little published quantitative research in the field of espresso. This report's goal was to reveal the true impact that pre-infusion time has on the strength and acidity of an espresso shot. This sample demonstrates experiment design process and documentation.
Sample 6 - Review Article
This piece seeks to inform the reader on the current state of the art of mycelium: an eco-friendly alternative material for structural and insulating applications. This report demonstrates a high-level summary of complex topics with many potential avenues for future research.
