This is a museum exhibit designed for children 8 to 12 years old. The purpose is to show the threat vehicle emissions impose on the environment. When the children move different cars along the track, the RFID reader underneath tells the computer to tally the simulated emissions. As the emissions accumulate, the initially luscious landscapes become less saturated and more gloomy looking. Eventually, all the life that was in the original landscape is gone. To make the demonstration more immersive, we had a variety of cars, motorcycles, trucks, and bikes to use on the roadway. With a larger budget, we would increase the size of the screen behind the track (we used a laptop we had on hand).
